Epson Stylus Office BX535WD can't scan using OSX Mavericks.

This Apple KB article regarding drivers that are available from Apple shows that there is a printer and scanner driver available for your Epson BX535WD.
The scanner driver available from Apple is an ICA driver so that you can use the Image Capture application that is included with OS X. So have you tried scanning from this application? Note that if the Epson is networked you will locate the device under the Shared entry in Image Capture.
