Where is the black background in Imovie 13?
there use to be around 48 backgrounds in Imovie 11, now there are only 12. So the black background is missing and i use this one a lot..
when you click on 'Maps&Backgrounds', it should be there:

i've only got curtain until silk-beige, just 12 of them. Strange..
WOW - THAT's what I call a beast of a bug:
I switched iMovie to 'Nederlansk' - and boom!: no more black!! 😁

obviously, the localization failed.
as a work-around: dl and install this lil' app

it allows to set individual apps to a diff. language (English?)
iMovie offer 29 languages ...
I just tested a few, for me 'exotic' languages (chinese, ukraine, finnish) - it looks like, only the Netherlands misses a few backgrounds ... that's not fair! Spend a lot of vacations (windsurf) in the 90ies there .... very nice, friendly people, should be allowed to use a black background 😝

I forwarded this thread to the Apple Mods of this board - maybe, they have a better 'connection' to Cupertino ... But send a bug-report anyhow!

I was 17y, on my first visit in the Netherlands (some hundred years ago ... ) - you don't imagine HOW kind I remember some of your 'meisjes' ... 😁

I just checked - 'black' in Dutch is 'zwart' - with my skils in English, there's no reason to 'word filter' that. Or, whatever stupid reason kills that background.
… but - a quick look in the iMovie package shows something obvious:
The Dutch version of 'localizable.strings' is 20kb, all other versions read as 25kB ...
And I'm no engineer:
