Did anything constuctive happen? I am afraid to let Yahoo muck with my Safari when Yahoo has caused all kinds of problems for it's own mail, operating in various browsers. Please let me know what happened.

On 10.6.8 - it's likely that Yahoo will just direct you to Apple,, where you won't get updated autpmatically in any case.
If you already haveSafari 5.1.10 on Snow Leopard 10.6.8, or Safari 6.1 on Lion 10.7.5 / Mountain Lion 10.8.5, then you're all set, despite what Yahoo say.
