Q: Highlight, unhighlight in Pages 5

I had the same problem, one way to unhighlight is:

Try Character Styles > None in the text / styles toolbar

I had the same problem but by chance found how to highlight and unhighlight the text.  In the format side bar under FONT, select the setting button (looks like a gear or cog next to "underline button".  That brings up a menu, select "Character Fill Color" and you can change the highlighting on your text.  

I agree on Backcrawler's comment.  This version is a step backward not forward.

Can it be Done orörd is Pages 5 à weaker program than the forerunner?

just hover over the hilighted part and a script will pop up for you to leave a comment, all you do is press delete to unhighlight the section you hovering abover.
