Issues with iPhoto files when trying to create a book

I'm having issues with iPhoto and buying a book. Says the following:

"UNABLE TO ASSEMBLE BOOK: There is a problem with the photo with the filename “(null).” The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt. Please replace this photo or delete it from your book."

I go through all the payment parts fine, then when it gets to the upload it stops almost immediately with the above message.

All of my files are fine, present and correct. Book I want is a 42 page hardback. I traditionally hated iPhoto for it's non-logical logic. Thought I'd give it a chance. Wish I had gone to Bob Books now. That's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back.

For one of your photos must the original file be missing.

All of my files are fine, present and correct.

How have you checked this? YOu can only be sure after creating a preview of your book. Have you done that? See: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture

Can iPhoto create a pdf-file for previewing or do you see the same error?

You may not notice by browsing the book-album in photo, if a photo has a missing original, because you are seeing the thumbnails in the album.

Thanks for your help. Thats helped a bit! I previewed as a PDF and the following error occured:

"The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.chameleon.componentGenerator error 8.)"

Tried rebuilding iPhoto database; still no joy. Also tried to creat a PDF from file but I get the orginal error message again.

So it is really not a problem of beeing unable to buy a book. One of the photos in your your book cannot be processed, because the original image image file is missing or unreadable. You need to identify the particular photo and remove it form your book.

One way to do it would be to duplicate your book and try to preview the duplicate after removing a few photos. If you can preview it after removing photos, you will know that the corrupted photo is among the photos you just removed. then add them back, one by one, until you hit the culprit and replace that photo in your original book.

Maybe I was a little harsh on iPhoto and ordering. Turns out I've fixed it via your suggestion; so thank very much!

Duped the project, then started a preview. Error happened immediately so deleted first image. Preview again and it progresses until page 16. Did the same and eventually previewed the whole book fine. Reinserted new pictures or resaved error photos; one final preview later and I'm uplaoding to order!

One thing I will note that didnt help. When it gets to say, Page 16 and there's an error, you need to count back 2 pages as it's not really Page 16 since the cover and inside flap are counted as Pages 1 and 2. Hope that helps somebody in the future.

Thanks again for your help.🙂

I got this message too. I found out that I had placed a picture in the book that was merely a thumbnail and not a JPEG. Obviously for some reason that picture is corrupted and only shows up in the iphoto library as a thumbnail. When you try to view it in full screen you will see a blank page. If you find this picture and delete it from the photo book the error does not occur. I hope this resolves your problem because it did for me.
