Spliced MacBook Pro Power Cord...wanted to verify voltage/wattage

My rabbit bit the co-ax portion of my Magsafe in half. Today I did a two-part splice...sometime in the next few weeks I will solder it and melt a heatshield material on it, but for now I just need a field-fix. I do not intend to leave it running unattended and have a new MagSafe on order. There wasn't much information on doing it so I proceeded with how it is done on other machines. I cut the bad cord off, unwrapped the outer layer of wire, spliced the core, did a twist-splice on each at different locations, wrapped each individually to avoid a cross, and then tightly wrapped them back into the outer tubing to prevent any flex on the splice.


Took my multimeter to it and continuity was affirmed. The cord charges the battery and the computer runs without issue. Battery is charging at normal speed. iStatPro shows DC-in voltage (with battery actively in rapid-charge mode) varying between 55-78 watts (depending on load...and likely +/- more as I havent watched it a ton) and a resting DC-in current of around 3.5-5 A and 17-19-ish volts (again, likely flucuating with load).


Ballpark wise, do those stats sound right and would the computer tell me if it was unhappy with the supply? I presume it would and feel good about the repair, but wanted to check to ensure it sounds like power has been correctly restored.


Computer is an early 2011 MBP 15 with the 2.3 CPU, 16 RAM, 256 Crucial M4, OSX Mavericks, and 85w Magsafe (2nd slimmed head revision).
