What is the "problem" with Save?

I have a .pages document which will not save. "could not be autosaved".

1. edit a .Pages document

2. Save

3. "This document could not be autosaved. Your changes will not be saved until the problem is resolved. You can also duplicate the document or discard your changes to close it."

4. Close

5. "Your changes will not be saved until the problem is resolved. You can also duplicate the document or discard your changes to close it." Choices are DISCARD DUPLICATE CANCEL.
