My Apple TV will make sound effects but won't play sound of content

I need help, it will click and make sound effects, but won't play music or audio. I have done the obvious, update, restart, disconnect, reconnect, power down and restart everything. My tv isn't on mute, because the clicks and songs and other sound effects work.

What happens when you try to play music? Can it play TV shows or movies? Are you playing though AirPlay?

Having the same issue. I get sound if I play via airplay but not directly they Apple TV. I did finally get 1 TV series to play after first playing it from my iPad but nothing else working.
