Syncing preferences with iTunes Match

So, in iTunes I have chosen all the music I do and do not want on my phone, but upon turning on iTunes match all of the songs were transferred to my iPhone. When I tried syncing my phone with my computer I still had every song even those that are unchecked. Even if I haven't downloaded all the songs it still makes it really hard for me to sort through my music, is there any way I can get these songs off my phone?
