How do I stop text to speech mid selection?

I have started using text to speech under system preferences/dictation.

It works fine.
However, if I choose several paragraphs and start text to speech, then change my mind, how do stop it? Currently, I turn off my speakers and let it run its course.

I figure there is a better way. :-)
