Q: numbers no longer saves canvas size

previous to upgrading to mavericks and updating numbers - it would save the position and size of the screen (which i was told is called canvas size).

now everytime i open it i have to resize the screen to fix the spreadsheet i open.  I open the same one all the time - so i want it to remember the size.

how do i fix this anyone have any ideas?

    Mary Lou,

This seems to have changed in Numbers 3.0.  You can post feedback to Apple using the menu item "Numbers > Provide Number Feedback".

In Numbers 3.0 the canvas size is implied by the placement of objects.  One idea is to place a rectangle that is the size you want on the canvas and keep everything inside that rectangle.

    Hi Mary Lou,

In Numbers 3.0, it seems to me that the 'canvas' is an infinite sea of white space (the Print View has gone). Maybe you mean the Numbers window size. And I agree that the window always opens to occupy most of the screen, no matter what size it was when you saved a document (sigh).

Apple has promised 'improvements' to zoom and window placement within six months.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6049

So, by May 2014 we can expect:

    Numbers

    • Customize toolbar
    • Improvements to zoom and window placement
    • Multi-column and range sort
    • Auto-complete text in cells
    • Page headers and footers
    • Improvements to AppleScript support

    Regards,

    Ian.
