Q: IPod touch 1 OS upgrade problems

I have an iPodTouch v1 with OS 1.1.5

What is the newest available OS for this device

And how can I update it - I get an "itunes update server cant be contacted" error

When I try the iTunes "help/check for updates" option

There seems to be no network issue (diagnostic test is ok)

The upgrade to iOS 3 is not free. Take a look here:

IOf necessary:
Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

It seems that the given link for the relevant item is not avail

The link works for me, up to the point in the iTunes Store where I would actually buy the update, which I'm not going to do. Have you gotten to that page in the Store, where it says iPod touch Software Update with the "Buy Now" button? If not, what country are you in?

Just item not available message box if using the link
Or "itunes update server cant be contacted" error
If using the iTunes "help/check for updates" option
Ill try to upgrade my iTunes version to see if it helps
