My music randomly deleted!

My 5th generation ipod randomly deleted my music twice when i plugged it into my computer. It had never done that before so i didnt know why it would. What is really confusing is the music still appears on itunes but not my ipod. But on itunes it has the circle with the '!' on the side. I dont know how to put the music back onto my ipod. Please help.
