Safari 6.1 and YouTube

I'm having trouble watching YouTube on Safari. I'm using 10.7.5, Safari 6.1, on a MacBook (early 2008). What I am finding is that PluginProcess from the WebKit2 framework is attempting to access Scripting Additions in the Library and Users Library, and sandboxd is denying access. sandboxd is using so much CPU (usually around 50%) that it causes the Flash to pause for about a second. This process happens every 5 to 10 seconds.

I am on a 30 Mbps line, so bandwidth is not an issue. The feed line (gray) always exceeds the play line (red). I have disabled all extensions and plugs except Flash Player. The pausing problem still exists with it stripped down to bare essentials. I do not have this problem on other video sites, unless there is a YouTube video embedded on the page. I am still getting the sandboxd CPU issue showing in Console after I close all pages in Safari.

All I can ascertain is that Google is sending a request for scripting through Flash, initiated when accessing YouTube pages, persisting even when all browser windows are closed.

I do not have this issue in Firefox (which is loaded with blocking extensions) or Chrome or MacTubes. Console shows no issues whatsoever for any of these.

I am seeing a number of Google IP addresses in the access log, ranging in the 74.125.225.x and 74.125.227.x range while this effect is happening.

Here is a sample of the Console detailed report.

Thanks for the fix.

YouTube was stuttering / jerking every couple seconds with Safari 6.1 and Mac OS X 10.7.5 using the infamous Adobe FlashPlayer plugin.

I tried everything including updating everything, fixing permissions, reinstalling Safari, emptying caches, blah blah blah.

This fix actually worked.

Chrome and Firefox worked just fine with the FlashPlayer plugin but Safari would not.

Safari works just fine with html5 from YouTube (go to youtube/html5 and choose the html5 player).

However I wanted to try to fix this niggling little problem so thanks again for your effort.

Happy Day!
