I am using 5s for couple months now. I am seeing the same thing. Most of us already know those battery saving tips and kill all app buisness. This is my third iphone they get hot with heavy use. Odd thing about 5s is it gets hot with minimal use even if u switch screen off kill all apps put in aero plane mode nothing happens. Phone stays hot and loses 10-20% in same amount of minutes when it is shut off and aero plane mode. I use wifi don't use lte much. This all is happening on wifi. Apple ppl are ignoring these threads so bad. I don't care I have a Mac or iPad or iPhone I'm not buying any apple product in future. That's why Samsung is stealing their business because they deserve this. Just sitting on their billions dollars not giving a clarification. Rip Steve jobs hope u r not able to see all this.

Hmm. I've iPhone 5S for a month and a half now and not experienced massive heat. Some heat while playing a very graphics intensive game, but never too hot to the touch. If you are using a case take it off. Also if you are at the edge of a tower or at the edge of a wifi. Since you are at the edge it will be searching for a stronger signal, constantly. This caused my old 4S to heat up and drain battery. My 5S will drain battery and heat up, not as much as the 4S though. Hope this will help. Seems I got a good one.

In my case I didn't have any issues when I bought it brand new.

After one month of clean use, I had an issue with the data. Unable to load any of the pages saying error in connectivity blah blah blah......

I contacted my ISP. They asked me to r-insert my SIM and restart.

No use at all. From then I noticed this overheating while charging. From then I feels like battery is draining as if its in F1 race. Juz 6 or 7 hrs. That's it.

My frequently used apps are fb, whats app, viber, asphalt, temple run, youtube and iBook.
