Air Drop is a "proprietary" Apple technology to transfer files, contacts, images etc.. wirelessly form one Apple device to another Apple device. Only between Apple products.

 

Currently Air Drop only works from iPhones, iPads or iPod Touches to other  iPads, iPhones or iPod Touches

 

Or between Mac computers. But NOT between a computer and a iDevice.
