    You can't.

The devices record h.264. If you want to work in a less compressed format, you can convert the files after they have been transfered to your computer.

If you want to work in less compressed formats, you need a camera that can bypass the compression engine and send the signal out through SDI, Component or HDMI. At that point, you'll need a third party card to capture the signal and convert it to a useful editable format (eg ProRes).

    Thank you Studio X.

Can we recover data that is compressed when we convert the files in the computer?

    No.

Think of this way - the original material is like making tortilla chips. The H.264 compression is like stepping on a bowl of chips. All the material is there but it takes MUCH less space and something is lost in the crushing.

Converting from H.264 to ProRes will give you a more easily editable format, but is not the same as completely reconsituting the chips. What is lost in the original compression can not be regained.

Still, having said all that, the situation is not totally dire. H.264 is an amazing compression codec. If you start with adequate light, a steady camera mount and controlled movement in the frame, the original images can be quite good. Low light, unsteady camera and fast action are the enemy of quality images.
