Confused on how to mirror

Our family has just bought a new Samsung 2013 smart tv. On the smart tv it says you can mirror your other devices onto your tv using allshare. Allshare confuses me because every time I have tried to research it there is either software or a dongle and it always seems to be for windows. If somebody knows how and it is possible can you please explain (and dumb it down for me) how to mirror my macbook pro screen onto my smart tv?

I think that only applies to Samsung devices, not any other.

You can't mirror your Mac's display to your TV unles you have got an Apple TV and you want to use AirPlay Mirroring.

In this case, your best option is to connect the MacBook directly to your TV, so first have a look at the ports your MacBook has got. If it has got Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt, buy a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable and a HDMI cable, and connect your MacBook to the TV. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241?viewlocale=en_US
