autofill is no longer working

I had the following problems in the course of trying to resolve the issue:

• Autofill was picking up the wrong contact info: e.g. work instead of home
• Autofill was active, but would only fill in name and email after I deleted the work address, home would not be filled until I clicked on edit:AutoFill Form.

After deleting "my card", I got "autofill was unable to complete the form" even though when I clicked on preferences: autofill:edit card. This pulls up the first card that matches the name of the logged in user.

To fix the problem:

1. Delete the card with the "my card" icon next to the name
2. In system preferences, users, click Contacts Card:Open. This will create a new card with the userID as the name.
3. Edit the card in address book
4. Select the Card:Make This My Card menu. The icon will now appear next to the contact.

I never figured out how to to control the order in which multiple addresses and emails gets selected.

AutoFill on my Safari 6.1 is completely dysfunctional: if I opt to use it, the little "AutoFill your contact info" dialog appears, then gets stuck and won't go away - more often than not blocking the field I want to type in. In fact, right now as I type this post, the little blue dialog is still there on this window, even though I swapped to a different tab to complain! In fact, it's on every window in Safari. Turning it off retrospectively in Preferences makes no difference. I'll have to re-start Safari and re-enter the form I was filling in. What a pain.

I've been having the same issue with the blue AutoFill box freezing on my screen. Tried a few things but can't get it to work anymore.

Me too. In my case the symptom is that the Autofill box comes up when I start typing my name but when I click on it, it does nothing and sits there on top of the field I'm trying to fill out, and there is no way to make it close. And it does not fill in any of the fields like it used to. This must be a bug introduced in the latest upgrade to Safari. Earth to Apple developers, come in Apple developers .... (silence) ....😟

I am having the same issue. And the little autofill box is immovable. This is happening on both of my computers since the upgrade. Apple--please fix this ASAP.

Currently typing with the little blue AutoFill box stuck there blocking my way and I didn't even want to use it when it first popped up. Keeps happening and appears on all new windows so the only way to disable is to quit Safari browsing altogether and start again. Apple please fix it - it has only just started happening recently since a major upgrade to Mountain Lion! Not upgraded to Maverick yet so does anybody using Maverick have this problem too?

I am also having a problem with autofill that started about a week ago. When I start typing my name - the autofill box pops up - I try to click on it - and nothing happens. I don't know what to do about it. No matter what site I go to it happens every time now. I have no idea how to fix it. I am currently using Mountain Lion. Is there something that I should be doing? Please let me know. Thanks!!!

When I do this it will auto enter my first name, but for any other field I get this error message:

All my contact info is filled out in "My Card" in Address Book, and autofill has always worked before.

I am using 10.7.5 on a MacBook Air. Apple please help!

I'm having exactly the same problem. Come on Mac please sort this out.

My wife was having the same issue on her Macbook Pro running 10.7.5 with Safari 6.1. I opened up her Address Book, went to My Card, edited the card (removed an old fax number), saved the changes and closed Address Book. Seems to be working fine again.

good to know i'm not the only one with this problem.. I used to be able to use the autofill feature, but now when you click on it, it just gets stuck. there seems to be no replies or solutions from mac here to solve the problem

Same problem - autofill won't work and autofill popup window is stuck open

For what it's worth: I went to My Card in Address Book and simply deleted two old defunct websites I had listed there. Didn't even do a reboot. Now, it appears my autofill is back up and running!
