    Welcome to the Apple Community.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your mobile device.

Mirroring is working fine on my iPhone but on the iPad, it will only work 3 times (turning it on and off), then I get the black screen. Restarting the iPad is the only thing that fixes it. All software is up to date.

I've done all the steps suggested, to no avail. It seems to be a problem specific to the iPad. This is a feature I need to be able to turn off and on multiple times a day for my work.

Restarting the mobile device works, but it's only a temporary fix. Another 3 or so times working, then the black screen happens again.

It's very definitely specific to the iPad. This problem does not occur from the iPhone or from my MCP.
