How do I backup my MacBook Air when the power cord will not light?

How do I backup my MacBook Air when the power cord will not light up? No green. No orange. No charging going on. (Maybe once every two to three days a light briefly goes on but not long enough to do a backup)

I had a similar thing happen to my old white MacBook and that's why I bought the Air. So frustrating....

You either likely have a damaged charger (most likely) or a damaged IO board

Reset SMC and re-verify same.

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
  3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
  4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
  5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Note
: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

make appt. with Apple for in shop diagnosis if no resolution.

Obviously if you have NO power to your Mac, there is no way to backup the SSD inside your macbook Air. 😊

Remember to make multiple copies of your data, including ARCHIVES, not just backups.
