My Disk Utility says my disk cannot be repaired and that I should replace it. What is the cheapest way to do this?

It is fairly easy to DIY the 2010 Mac Mini's HD, see > Mac Mini Mid 2010 Repair - iFixit


If you are not able to DIY, use the Service link at > Apple - Find Locations and contact your local Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Those guides are excellent.


But it seems all about removing the drive and then installed new drive and the OS X. I haven't found one that how to keep the existing OS X and software and files. Do people clone the old drive (assume it's not corrupted) and then reinstall it? Do people encounter license issue if he use a brand new drive?
