I have a macbook pro version 10.6.8 version and I would like to get the Mountain Lion upgrade...how do I do that?

Assuming that your machine meets the specs, you buy it from Apple's online store
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion and then redeem the code and download it using the App Store.app.
