Have you been using your shuffle with your computer already, and it does not work now for some reason?  Or is this the first time you are trying to use this shuffle with your computer?

What, if anything, happens when you connect the shuffle to your computer's USB?  Does the shuffle's light do anything?

I am having the exact same problem with my iPod Shuffle 3rd Generation, so I might as well just ask here too.

-won't turn on (with headphones plugged in), empty battery red light doesn't blink either when I try

-won't charge when connected to PC, iTunes doesn't detect it either

The weird thing is that the computer sometimes detects the iPod, but it only lasts a couple seconds. Though one time it lasted long enough for me to open up iTunes and check the iPod, and for some reason where the Battery icon should be, a box saying [2GB] was there instead.

I used my iPod frequently for the past 2 years so it can't just be a software issue, it worked just this morning too. Is this a battery problem?

EDIT: I managed to take a picture this time : http://i.imgur.com/A7yGlyv.jpg , I just don't understand why the Battery icon has been replaced.
