Whenever I quit Aperture, it never closes properly.

What is happening, when you are trying to quit Aperture? Do you see the "beachball" spinning and Aperture is hanging, or is Aperture simply taking a long time to quit, updatng information for sharing?

If it is hanging, while "updating", you might consider to disable the "Share XML" option in the Aperture's "Preferences >  Preview" tab. Change it from "When Quitting Aperture" to "Never".

Thank you so much!!  Changed the preview tab to never and it is working fine now!  Thanks again!

    You are welcome

The "Share XML ..." is explained in an Apple Support article:  Aperture 3.5: Set "Share XML with other applications" to "Never" for better performance and faster quit times

Do you know what the difference is between "Share XML" and "Don't share XML"?  The linked file implies that "third-party" applications need the XML, whereas other apps (what is in the set "not third-party"?) do not.  Is "sharing" used here to mean "available in the OS X Media Browser"?  Does it _only_ allow "third-party" apps to access the Previews, or are there additional differences?

Don't feel obliged to answer.  You reported elsewhere that the behavior of Previews changed with 3.5, and that the behavior is not fully explained.  Questions abound:

    - Are Previews available for all Libraries or only the last used Library?

      - What happens if you have one Library open in iPhoto and one in Aperture?

      - What is the difference between the files used by "not third-party" apps when sharing XML is on?

What we (or at least me) really need, I think, is a complete guide to the Media Browser.
