Q: Uninstall Yahoo Search toolbar -- from Safari

Hi, I unknowingly installed Yahoo Search toolbar. It is very annoying and I have been searching online for how to uninstall it. Yahoo Help has directions for removing it from Firefox and Chrome, but not Safari. Please let me know a way without having to download anything else. Thank you in advance.

Go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions

See if it can be uninstalled from there.

    Hey CrazyBoyz,

This might be a late reply and you have already figured out how to get rid of the search but heres to all the others that have not quite figured it out. This method does NOT completely get rid of the yahoo search but it certainly does let you search in the top address bar/search bar without getting redirected to yahoo 7's search page.

How to resume search on google using the top address bar/search bar: click on the safari tab > preferences > search > and then set the search engine from Yahoo to Google and voila, there you have it. You can now search on the top bar without getting redirected to yahoo's search page. Hope this helped to anyone who has this annoying search bar from Yahoo

    QeeranL:

That solution actually doesn't work for me. I've set default browser to Google and yet when I type in a search query in upper window I still always redirect to Yahoo page.

I got this malware from updating Adobe Flash. I unwittingly clicked "Agree" thinking it the typical TOC but it was actually giving permission for Yahoo to insert itself into my life. I hate this. Any other help is most appreciated.

UPDATE: Just fixed it (I think), via Safari>Preferences>Extensions. Then removed the "searchtab" extension (I think that's what it was called).

Thank you.  I have had that problem as well even though Google was officially set as my default search engine. Your fix worked like a charm!

Hi! In my case, although I did not consciously select Yahoo as my search engine (seemingly picked it up somewhere unwittingly), I was able to quickly correct this by: 1) In Safari, pick 2) Preferences, go to "Search" tab where you will see Yahoo, then 3) select Google (or whatever your choice is) from the dropdown list. This fixed my issue.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one.  See link below.

Thanks.  I've tried all other recommendations and this is the only one that worked.
