Q: dvd studio pro 2 can't be installed on this disk. You did not enter a valid registration code.

I have been searching to find an authoring program that will work with FCPX and bought a used copy of DVD Studio Pro 2 online.  It has everything that originally came with it, but I am unable to install.  I get this message:

 

"dvd studio pro 2 can't be installed on this disk. You did not enter a valid registration code."

 

I have a Mac Book Pro Retina Display

OS X Version 10.8.5

I7 Processor

 

Can anyone help me here.  I do not get a screen on install to add the code.  Why? 

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

    DVDSP 2 is over 10 years old and will not install  on an Intel machine. See if you can get your money back unless you have a PPC machine to run it on.

     

    I would guess that most of the people who use FCPX opt for iDVD as an authoring program – or perhaps Roxio Toast. iDVD isn't as sophisticated as DVDSP, but it's capabilities are not bad, it will run on an Intel machine, and the price is right. ALthough it has been discontinued it's available as part of iLife 09 and iLife 11 suites on sites like Amazon for under $50.
