iPhoto is not recoginizing my iPhone when I sync it. Image Capture does not recognize it is connected either. But iTunes does recognize my phone. I am running Mavericks on my iMac and have upgraded to iOS 7.0.4 on my iPhone. iPhoto version is 9.5 (902.7)/

Do you mean powering down the iPhone? I did that and it didn't work.

Resetting the iPhone did not work. Any other suggestions? Of note, iPhoto immediately recognized a memory card reader and performed appropriately.
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

The problem is repeated, still not recognizing my iPhone 5. I have attached a screenshot of the new library. This is with my iPhone connected to my iMac.
Switch to another User account and try there. Does that work?

I created a new account and the problem is repeated...iPhoto does not recognize the iPhone.
Also, I didn't mention this before, but iTunes does not automatically begin when I plug in the iPhone either, but if I open iTunes, it then recognizes the iPhone and begins backup.
Also, Photostream in iCloud is automatically capturing my photos in iPhoto from my iPhone. But because iPhoto won't recognize the iPhone when syncing, I can't transfer iPhone videos. That is what I need to be able to do again. Thanks.
I am still stuck with my issue (iPhoto not recognizing my iPhone 5 when synced, therefore I can't transfer videos off of my iPhone). The advice so far has not resolved it. Any more suggestions? Thanks.

No. I tried that as well and it does not recognize my iPhone either.
Do you have photos on your camera roll? If you connect to another computer does that one see photographs on the phone?
