automatic example numbering?

Hello,

is there a way?

I found this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2481328?answerId=11776626022#11776626022 , maybe in the weanwhile it changed?

I am writing a musicological text and would like to number automatically the examples. In the way that, if I add or suppress an example I don't have to renumber all the following ones.

I tried with the Numbered List Styles, but it doesn't work for me because it puts the dotted number in front of the line and I'd like to have something like this:

"Ex. 1" or "Example 1".

Actually only a tiny bit is missing!

Thanks in advance for any help!
