cleaning screen

I have a 15" mac book pro. What do I use to clean the screen? Windex?

Do I spray onto the screen or spray onto a soft cloth and wipe?

Thanks

I second the motion for the i-Klear kit. Very handy product and it also cleans the keyboard and outer case as well. Lets face it, although the manual says to use water, there are times when water alone is not sufficient. I have alergies and was sitting in bed with my MBP and sneezed...well you know the rest of the story..!

So you snot all over your computer and you think iKlear is going to clean it? I use Clorox wipes which clean and disinfect. IKlear will not remove germs.

The cheapest and best solution that will guarantee the most effective cleaning of the Macbook Pro screen:
Use Ajax and a metal scouring pad. This will particularly work well on the glossy screens - and it removes germs on the casing as well! Seriously - it works great! Try it and you won't be disappointed! You don't have to waste money on some fancy-shmantzy cleaning kit.

Luckily, people who buy Macs are bright enough to know you're not serious - if this were a WinTel forum however, you might be in trouble!

I think iKlear, although not strictly a disinfectant, will probably remove most of the germs during cleaning - and I'm sure whatever it's made of is not particularly suitable to promote bacteria growth.

I guess the lesson is, turn your head and sneeze on the Missus - not your beloved MBP! She can clean herself.

"Luckily, people who buy Macs are bright enough to know you're not serious"

You would'nt know it from some of the posts. There is a growing trend for some to suspend common sense and fail to slow down and read the manual. Garbage like "Gee - my girlfriend drove over my Mac with her Hummer - what should I do?" Or, "I just got my Mac and plugged it in and smoke came out of it and it will not work, is this normal?" - DUH I've actually read posts that people have opened their sealed box and found their new $2500 computer with a scratched screen and wondered what to do. Mac has it's share of not too bright owners.

I have tried using various brands of solutions and wipes that have been rated for polarized and anti-glare screens, but I found that they all left streaks, despite promises not to. The solution that I have found works best is a vert clean, slightly damp microfiber cloth. What I do is place the cloth in the washing machine on a cold water cycle, with or without detergent. Then I place it in the dryer (make sure you clean out the lint trap as lint on the cloth is bad for teh screen) for about 10 minutes. I find that this results in a slightly damp cloth that leaves a streak free shine on my glossy monitor.

Hope this helps.

Greetings! Here's the ultimate for cleaning the LCD screen: Klear Kloth

This company was developed for and by Carl Zeiss specifically for cleaning very expensive, delicate optical lenses. I have been using Klear Kloth products for about 10 years with excellent results!

Here's a link: http://www.screenclean.co.uk/klearscreen_klearkloth.php

Hope this helps.

God Bless!
