Iphone 5s with airdrop and I have Macmini late 2011 with the latest OS and air drop, why can't she see me or I see her on airdrop?

I guess once again I am too thick and old to get this however the question is my wife has Iphone 5s with airdrop and I have Macmini late 2011 with the latest OS and air drop, why can't she see me or I see her on airdrop? what are we not doing correctly?

Mac mini, iOS 5.0.1, ios is 10.7.2

The two different operating systems (Mac OS X and iOS) use different protocols. You can Airdrop from Mac to Mac or iPhone to iPad but not from Mac to iPhone.
