Drag and drop stops working in maverick

Hello,

running Maverick and running into this issue twice already.

I can't drag files in finder. I can select them, I can multiple select them by dragging, but clicking on them and draging them does not work at all until I reboot.

Anyone know of this issue?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Hey cromestant,

I would run through the troubleshooting steps in the following article, specifically the section titled "If the issue occurs in various applications, or in Mac OS X" here:

Maybe the same issue maybe not but it seems it hasn't been explained this way... When I attempt to drag and drop from an email to a folder I have opened up in Finder it sometimes works and sometimes not. I notice when it doesnt work if I click the finder window to make sure it is active and then go to OSX mail and drag and drop an attachment to that folder it then works.

I'm usuing duel monitors so both the finder window and the OSX mail are both front in center on each their own screen.

This issue is really annoying!

Since Drag and Drop does not work and Copy, Paste does not work either, after searching the internet, I found a solution that works for Copy and Paste and also for Drag and Drop. It consists in killing the process "pboard" and restarting the Finder. Use "activity monitor", search for "pboard", select it, and force to quit. Then restart the finder using "force to quit" into apple menu. It avoids rebooting the computer.

Thanks, l.i.am. Your link http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/finder.html did the trick. If you are having this problem, please, try that link, first!

Your OS X install might hide the Library folder from you. (I hate this change so much.) If your Finder is usable, you can press Shift-Command-G and type in ~/Library to bring up your hidden Library folder.

Simply restarting the Finder didn't work, though. After I trashed the plists, I needed to restart before it was fixed. I believe this was a problem with the Favorites panel. While I was suffering from the crashing Finder, most of the time I could drag and drop without a crash as long as I didn't drag the file icon across the Favorites panel.

Hello to you all.

Just here to say that I've been having the same issue for months, and I can't find a solution anywhere.

Apple doesn't seem to take a look at this topic either.

About some characteristics of the issue:

-It is NOT only with Finder. It is with ANY drag and drop situation.

-Restarting Finder do NOT fix the issue neither deleting Finder preferences. Only rebooting fixes it. Temporarily.

-When trying to drag an item it gets stuck on the cursor for a few seconds, and if you won't constantly type "esc" or right click on something it can get stuck for a long period of time.

-It happens on Mavericks and Yosemite. So an update won't work for this issue.

Hope anyone up there could start working on this. It is really annoying and unproductive. 😐
