Kernel panic when attempting to wake from sleep, after replacing battery

I have a 2011 Macbook Air running 10.7.5. It is no longer under warranty so I just recently replaced the battery myself. With the new battery, kernel_task was hogging 300%+ CPU which I fixed by disabling the kernel extension AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. Since the battery replacement, my laptop has experienced kernel panic when attempting to wake from sleep mode.

Since display sleep works fine, I am currently circumventing the problem using NoSleep.

Whenever the computer itself sleeps, the keyboard is not backlit, I cannot wake it up and must forcibly restart.

Solutions I've tried so far (all with AC adapter plugged in):

0. restart

1. SMC reset

2. NVRAM/PRAM reset

3. using pmset to set hibernatemode to 0

4. running Repair Disk

5. Software Update

6. SMC/NVRAM/PRAM reset again just in case
