How do I search for World Cinema in iTunes?

I like world cinema, particularly french, italian, german and japanese films however iTunes in Australia seems to have a very small amount and certainly don't have an easy way to search for "world" cinema - anyone know how to search for it. And why Apple has such a small selection?

Apple offer what the content owners in Australia are willing to license. It's their choice, not Apple's.

As to searching, there's no really good way to search for "world cinema" as such since films aren't identified that way in their titles or descriptions. If you go to the Browse under the Quick Links on the main iTunes Store page, though, you'll see a number of categories you can browse. That may help some. You can also search for "french movies", etc. and that may bring up some titles but it's unlikely to be a complete list.

Regards.

Ha! That is a funny expression. I hope you don't think that Italian is more of a "world" language than English.

And why Apple has such a small selection?

That must be a trait of the Australia iTunes Store. The iTunes USA Store has a significant "Foreign" movies section.

But as you are no doubt aware, the iTunes Stores do not sell across borders. Feel free to check out other retailers that may serve Australia.

Now you've just annoyed me...

Fair enough, although I believe your question has been answered. If the movies are in the Store at all, they will be under the category "Foreign." I just now checked the Aus iTunes Store, and unlike the USA Store, it does not have such a category.

There is a page where you can ask for items to be added. Please note that it functions as a "suggestion box," not as a "special order line," so there is no assurance it will be added, especially in light of the licensing issues noted by Mr. Paw.

Also as mentioned, you can check other online retailers who may have what you want. You can also consider purchases of movies in physical form, which often leads to much bigger selections.
