Files disappear upon changing name if in Finder search results!

When I change the name of a file among a set of search results in Finder, the file disappears and is not even in Trash.

This is serious problem that arose since I installed Mavericks.

It does not happen if I change a file name within Finder after opening a folder -- it only happens among search results. For now, I can hit "open containing folder" before name changing, but if someone knows a proper fix, that'd be great.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. In fact, I did some tests just earlier and found that the problem only arises for files (automatically downloaded by the apple Mail programme) in a folder marked "Mail" which refers to subfolders of the All Mail.mbox.

Since I use gmail and I read that Mavericks has some issues with IMAP on gmail, I suspect this is the problem.

In any case, I have Mail preferences set to "delete unedited downloads" on shutdown and download any attachments I need directly to specific folders, so I think I have no remaining problem.

Thanks again and sorry for the incomplete problem report.
