My iPhone won't connect to my laptop

My iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) won't connect to my laptop, but it has no problem what-so-ever connecting to any other pc or mac. My laptop(Samsung 5 Series Ultra NP540U3C-A04SE) makes that little "hey a usb-thing"-sound, but it doesn't do any of the other things it's supposed to do and my phone doesn't charge.

It's NOT the cable, I know that for sure since it charges perfectly in other laptops/pcs/macs + wall.

iTunes told me to install an update in order for my iPhone to connect with iTunes, and so I installed the update and it worked! But then I unplugged my phone to go eat some breakfast and when I returned the phone wouldn't connect. I have tried several usb-ports.

I thought it was my iTunes so i uninstalled all apple-programs on my computer and reinstalled, but nothing changed. IT HAS OBVIOUSLY PREVIOUSLY WORKED.

I have also restarted my computer a couple of times but it still doesn't work.

What do I do?

I have the exact same issue with my iPhone 3GS. It used to work and it does work on other PCs as well but it doesn't work on my Windows 8 desktop. (Windows also plays the "hey a usb-thing"-sound when I connect it but it doesn't show up in iTunes).

I also tried connecting a friend's iPhone 5S to my iTunes and that worked just fine. And as stated above, I also rebooted my iPhone, reinstalled iTunes and everything but nothing has worked 😟

Try a Reset on your iPhone.............

Definately try another USB cable...

I just restored my phone and it still doesn't work with any of the cables.

I've tried 3 different USB cables (one that came with the iphone and to which didn't). All of them works on other computers, but not on this specific laptop.

Are you connecting through a USB hub? If so try a direct connection.

Did you also try a different USB port on the computer?

No, only direct connections!

And yes, I've tried all three of them. They work perfectly fine with any other usb-device!

I connected another iPhone to the computer, and it installed driver software as you'd expect. I then proceeded to try to connect my own iPhone 5, and it now works!

I still don't get why it didn't work though.

Hi Guys!

I had the same issue and after reading this post and almost tried everything but nothing helped. Finally I managed to solve the mystery.

Simple solution is delete the iTunes from your PC/ Laptop and download again from Apple website and this would solve this issue and you'll be able to connect your phone via USB to laptop/ PC.

Mine certainly did ;)

If you delete your iTunes from your computer, will you lose all of your music?

Even if if you dI lose your music In iTunes, set it so it sync your iPhones content into your iTunes and then you've got your music back!!
