apple tv not working

the volume was not working. We unplugged and plugged back the apple tv and discovered that all the icons are gone. We are connected to the internet (IP address confirms that). What could be wrong and what can I do to get to my libraries of movies, TV shows and other?

ATV has no network access. All the icons that missing require either connecting to iTunes locally, or iCloud over the internet. Since it can not access them it does not give the option.


We are connected to the internet

No your not.


(IP address confirms that).

No it does not.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

1. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).

2. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.

3. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)

4. Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)

5. Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)
