Nov 23, 2013 2:41 PM in response to dantjeby Csound1,Please read what I said again. Your response has nothing to do with my suggestion.
DELETE the existing account before attempting to setup the new one.

Nov 23, 2013 6:08 PM in response to Csound1by sbring,I am also trying to change my my Apple ID on my iPhone. I am hesitant to hit delete because I am receiving a message that states if I delete my account all documents and photo stream photos stored in iCloud will be deleted from my iPhone. How do I recover the photos?

Nov 23, 2013 6:20 PM in response to sbringby randers4,Save you photo stream photos to your camera roll first. Documents will only be deleted from your device, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account (with just a renamed ID) and not changing accounts, they will be available again when you sign back in.

Nov 23, 2013 6:46 PM in response to randers4by sbring,What I am trying to accomplish is link my iPhone to my iPad cloud. Unfortunately when I bought the iPhone last month, the person who set up my iPhone gave me a different Apple User ID than the one I have on my IPad. Can I accomplish this by deleting the cloud account on the phone and giving it the same user ID as my iPad.

Nov 23, 2013 6:52 PM in response to sbringby randers4,Do you already have another iCloud account set up with your new ID? If so, is your data already in the new account or do you need to migrate your iCloud data from the existing account to the new one?

So back it up first if you are concerned.
All iCloud data will be removed from your Mac when you logout (you can't delete the account) , it will be retained in the iCloud account and can be restored by logging in again.

The last suggestion of temporarily changing my apple ID back to the old one, deleting the account from iCloud on my phone, and then rechanging my ID back to the new one and signing back into iCloud worked for me. I didn't have to reverify my old ID email (which is good since I deleted that email account).
