iOS 7.0.4 will not allow my iPad 2 to stay connected to Wifi

I downloaded the most recent software update today for my iPad (iOS 7.0.4). Since doing so my wifi keeps getting disconnected. Other discussions suggest resetting the router. That is not an option for me as I'm currently staying in a hotel. I've tried resetting network settings. Can any one help?

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Unable to Connect After iOS Update - saw this solution on another post.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I've tried these fixes, but without success. Two days after upgrading to iOS7.0.4 my iPad 2 now is 'unable to connect to my home router wifi hub'

The problem isn't with my router box as my mobile phone works perfectly well. It's too coincidental that this issue has arisen just after the software upgrade. Has anyone had any word from Apple if this is a known problem with iOS 704?

I'm reluctant to reset my networks as I've got loads of passwords and other stuff that I would lose, and the general feedback on these boards suggests that resetting networks doesn't provide a fix. Should I just wait for Apple to issue a new download release that may fix things?

I'm in the same situation as Furiousgeorge27. I've tried all the other fixes and like him, things worked fine until I downloaded the latest iOS. I'm frustrated as this is my primary means of work and communication while away from my family as I'm in the military. I'm deploying soon and unless this is fixed will need to find alternate means to stay in touch.

I'm having the same problem. My iPad cannot stay connected to wifi (continually connects and disconnects). I've rest the router, and reset the iPad, with no success.

Every device in my house (two iPhones, two laptops, one desktop, two raspberry pi, Sony playstation) , other than the iPad, are working on the wireless network perfectly.

This is frustrating that the iPad updates are having issues with wifi connectivity.

Same issues here. My iPad 2 keeps dropping its connection and having me select a wireless network. Maybe Apple just wants us "old timers" to buy new iPads. That's a sarcastic remark, of course. But, I think it's crazy to have to try all of this reset this, turn off that, stuff. The beauty of Apple used to be that it just worked. I have always gladly paid the premium for gear that just worked. Now, it's like my old PC days when I had to have a special boot disk just to use my CD-ROM drive. All of this started with the 7.0.4 update. I guess I shouldn't jump on updates so quickly. But I don't have the time to comb through forums to see what problems the updates are causing.

I visited my father today. By good luck, he hasn't downloaded iOS 7.0.4 and his iPad wifi connection is absolutely fine. I told him on no account to upload the software upgrade. When I tried to connect my iPad to his wifi home router I still get the "unable to connect to network xxxx". This tells me the problem is definitely with my iPad, and almost certainly with the iOS 7.0.4 download. I remain puzzled as to why I can connect to hotspots, but not to home router wifi hubs?

Does anyone know if the people at Apple have plans to issue a software upgrade to address this? If not, what is the best way for us to get them to take corrective action. Until now, I've always liked the Apple way of doing business, but I'm concerned that they don't seem to be taking the initiative in this. Very frustrating.

It (the IOS 7etc update) interferes with wifi functions (persistent dropouts) with the Ipad, Ipad air and Ipad mini alsdo, as well as with an older iPad, which worked fine in this network prior to the IOS upgrade. My daughters were wise beyond their years to ignore the Apple recommendation to up0date their IOS. Their systems work just fine.

So, far, none of the fixes posted for iPads, have succeeded in remediating this problem.

I have ipad2 and just updated to 7.0.4. It won't let me connect to a public wifi that has an "accept" form-page conditions for using their wifi. However, I can turn my iPhone5 hotspot on and connect my iPad2 to that with no problem. My iPhone 5 connected to the public wifi properly in that it took me to the conditions/ accept button page. I was then able to surf the net on my iPad2 through my iPhone5 hotspot.

[public wifi]:::> [iPhone5 hotspot]:::> [iPad2]:::> internet

It probably has to do with 7.0.4 not getting the message to go to the next step and open up the condition/accept form of the public wifi.

I tried these tricks: shut down/restart , turn wifi on/off , "ask to join" on (and off ) , ... Reset connection and other permutations and combinations. I'm sure they'll come up with a fix but in the meantime I'm stuck without browsing on my tablet.

Ok so Apple is continuing to pretend there is no issue with IOS7. I have two IPAD's, 3 IPhone 4's and a IPhone 5 and all are experiencing significant issues since installing IOS7. My wife's IPAD will connect and disconnect from ANY Wi Fi she connects to. All of these used Wi Fi connections were strong and solid prior to IOS7. Both her IPAD and my daughters Iphone 4s are unable to get more than three bars of Cell service (AT&T) in the same area where they used to get 5 bars and my daughter in law still on IOS6 is getting 5 bars.

In some cases they get the searching or no service in the sane spots where they once got 4 to 5 bars. My Son and Daughters IPhone 4's have seen significant battery drain, everything is setup with same settings as prior IOS7. In all cases we have reset networking, soft reset the systems and even di a factory restore. All with the same results. Unfortunitly Apple has made it all but impossible to go back to a working version and there is no response from Apple regarding a solution for the numerous issues introduced.

Thanks Texasmacman for so much ... Apple troubleshooting advice. I suppose endlessly restarting previously working iPads and routers fills in time till the code crunchers at Apple get their act together and admit there's a serious problem with iOS7 and then fix the lousy product. Unlike MS operating systems we are tied to the hardware and are thus at the mercy of the commercial forces within Apple. I've used Apple products for 20 years or more and the catalogue of rushed, careless software releases would fill a number of blog sites and with iOS they're just becoming more frequent.

We have 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, an 8 core MACPRO and a i7 Mac Mini as well as a HP PC... and you know which device gives the least trouble?

As with many other users (iPhone 4Ss and iPad Minis) my WiFi browsing failure has arisen since the iOS7 upgrade but only occurs at public and friends' home networks (which previously worked). No amount of mobile restarting or restoring produces a working device. At home WiFi browsing is slower but functional.

Why won't Apple allow users to just restore an ealier mobile operating system??

Time now to spend another hour or two trying to get "Support" from Apple....

iOS 7.0.4 will not allow my iPad 2 to stay connected to Wifi
