Giving more information related to the Time Machine issue, once I run the AirPort Utility, this screen runs for hours without showing the Time Machine for start up.

    Thank you.

Try the isolation method I posted in this thread.

LaPastenague, I really appraciate your quick response. I will try yoyr recommendation step by step but as far as I´m concerned, I need to rearrange some of my connection as I have my wi-fi modem at one place and no wires at home. so I need to move some of the devices closer to the modem in order to do it with wires.

I will try it in the following days as I have not time now but I just wanted to let you know that your answer will be tried.

As soon as I try, I will let you know the result.

    Regards,

    LaPastenague,

By the way. I read quickly your notes and unfortunately I have Mavericks OS just upgraded. You mention in your notes that this is an issue with a bug. Should I expect your instructions fix this as well? Should I wait for and upgrade with this fixes? Is there any workaround in the meantime?

    Regards.

Since the bug has been there since Lion.. I would not be holding your breath for a fix.

I can only suggest as far as setup goes that it is setup..

ie this requires no big rearrangement of your network. It is merely to get the computer to talk to the router again. Once it is talking, you can put the TC back in place in the network.. it takes 5min.

I have probably gone overboard with using ethernet.. but I wanted to be clear that what Apple removed in the new airport utility can be bypassed so you can still detect the TC without needing wireless.

The new airport utility is totally set to wireless as the only means of automatically detecting the TC. And you MUST factory reset the TC to get it to show up again.

BTW do you have iphone or ipad, as the airport utility in the latest iOS seems to often work better than the Mac OS version. Have a try.

Make sure btw that ipv6 is set correctly.

Open the wireless network in your computer, as I assume you are using wireless and make sure you have set ipv6 to link-local only. It cannot detect the TC without that setting.
