Q: Trackpad is frozen
The pointer on the screen won't move despite finger movements on my trackpad. At times, the pointer disappears. When it disappears, I make trackpad inputs to ensure I haven't accidentally moved it to the edges of the screen and hidden it. My track pad battery power is over 50%. The keyboard TAB key works fine. The trackpad is about 18" from the iMac with no obstructions. I shutdown using the POWER button and trackpad works fine after restart. This happened occasionally with Mountain Lion but has been more frequent with Mavericks. Thanks for your help!

Never did figure out the problem but cycling power on my track pad was a much easier fix than complete shutdown/startup.
