3 grey safari icons

Every time I open a new window on iPhone 4, below where it says search or add new address there are three grey colored safari icons. Each of these icons have a different web link. It's like some kind of a permanent bookmark you add to your home screen instead it's not on your home screen, it's on new window you open up below the search bar. It can't be deleted. When I hold it down you can move the icons but it will go right back into place. It's just annoying. I don't remember how it got there. I sure didn't out it there. If I did i don't know how. The question is what is it, how it got there and how to get if off? Thank you for your patience and understanding.
