time machine external drive

My I mac has only a 2TB drive, which is almost full. I would like to use a Firewire 800 external HD for additional space. Additionally, I have a 3TB usb HD that is used to sorte the timemachine backups. My questions is, how does one back up both the internal HD and external firewire 800 HD. Thank you for your efforts.
