Unable to connect DV camera

Using FCE HD 3.0, Sony TRV 110 (approved camera). Since upgrading QT 7.1.2 Pro, cannot see camera in FCE or iMovie. Tried the "remove old .pkg" fix in Library, this did not correct problem. Cannot see camera even after using Easy Setup. Also switched firewire cable from G5 to camera just in case. Any suggestions? I could not install FCE HD 3.0.1 update either, message when installing says, "Alert - your computer does not need this update". I also have installed Pro Application Update 2005-02

Dual 1.8 ghz ppc Mac OS X (10.4.7)

There have been similar problems reported though I can't remember the "cures" or outcomes.

A search of this forum's previous posts might be helpful.

Did you check this:

Be sure to remove all items, BEFORE re-installing the newest version of quicktime.

My SONY DVR TRV340 works well with QT 7.1, but I had to follow those instructions to made it works after a quicktime update from 6.5.2 to 7.

Thanks all for the suggestions. In the forum I saw a mention of checking the hardware profile - sure enough, looks like the firewire port on the front of my G5 is inop. Plugging the camera into my Apple Cinema Display firewire port - voila - connectivity. DUH! Need to remember the "plug" part of the "plug and play!" Thanks for the responses.
