Q: Itunes could not connect to the Itunes store. An unknown error occured. (0x80090318)

I keep receiving this message when I connect my IPOD to my computer and I can't sync it..it doesn't see the device at all: "Itunes could not connect to the Itunes store. An unknown error occured. (0x80090318)" What could be causing this and how can I correct it?

iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1
