OSX Email Errors with Comcast Servers

I am having trouble using my OSX 10.9 Email App with my Comcast Email account on my MacPro.

The Mail APP won't authenticate with Comcast's SMTP Servor.


But the same accounts and passwords work fine in my Iphone5 and Ipad Mini.


Apple Tech support ran me thru diagnostics and I set up a new Email Account on Gmail which works fine on my Mac under 10.9.


Of course, Comcast Insists it's still an Apple Problem and I am caught between the 2.


It's some sort of handshake, password issue imho.


If I start up under 10.8...the mail app with connect/authenticate with the Comcast.


Mavericks does work fine on my Mac Pro using Gmail, but not Comcasts' SMTP servers.

Any idea why??

Didn't work


And when I ran Keychain Fprst Aid, it found problems, I then repaired them.

Re-Ran First Aid again, found the same problems it forst reported.

Ran fix again.

Ran Check and found the very same problems all over again.

Repeat First Aid Fix.....repeat problems found.


I am NOT wiping ouit al my passwords, logins, et al to start all over again and still possibly face Maverics Mail app unable to log into my main email smtp account.


Suhhestion apprecoated Greatly, but it don;t work, and again...I can access incoming/outgoing servers with my Iphone and Ipad with no trouble.

After fiddling with the settings, i THINK it's working now. I'll set how long it lasts. I'm intersted to see the date on the Xfinity email guide is Nov. 22nd...as if they got flooded with issues and suddenly needed to update their settings. I see some alternate port settings are now listed.


Hope it works, and really disappointed they wouldn't take the time to run me thru the set-up to make sure it worked for me.

So what else is new?

That's a plausible explanation that may NOT be shared with their customers.

Help here was appreciated.

Too bad a decision was made NOT to offe much assitance at all to a significant portion of their users on Mac Platforms. Disappointing to say the least if they made changes. and are NOT bothering to tell anyone who raises the issue of not being able to use MacOSX on their latest servers without changing port assignments and troubleshooting what works and what doesn't.

Hopefully I 'm up and running for a while.
