Section/Different Margins in same doc

I have read this Feb 2013 post (Re: document margins/differing on different paragraphs) and it doesn't help.

I have a document and I want the margins on the second page to be different from the other pages. When I use the section break and decheck the match previous section box, any change to the margins affects the entire document, not just the section. It doesn't matter if I hilight the text and change the margins, all document margins move. I've tried every angle I can think of and researched but all document margins are always affected and can't find anything definitive on how to do this.

Pages version is 5.01 on Mavericks OSX 10.9

any help appreciated.

Document settings set for the Document which is why they are called Document settings.

Margins are in the document settings. You can inset Sections inside them but not outside them ie you can make parts smaller, but not larger.

Set your maximum Document settings and then increase the margin indents in whichever sections you want to be smaller. It was easier in Pages '09 which let you do this with Layout breaks.

Hi Nelson,

how to set up the 2nd page a different top margin

This is an old thread and is marked as Solved. Best to start a new discussion with your question.

Hint: you can insert a Section Break at the end of Page 1 and format the Page Header on Page 2 to push the body text down 😉.

In your new discussion, please give as many details as you can:

  • Version of your Operating System;
  • Version of Pages;
  • Do you want Page 2 to have a larger or smaller top indent?
