Q: Is there a link between Mavricks and my computer freezing all the time?

We have several MacBook Pro at home, never had any problem with them.  Since we have installed Mavricks on two of thew, we experience problems (the computer freeze) and we have to reboot all the time. It's been three time today for me and 5 or 6 time for my son.The other computer is not on Mavrick and everything is normal. Any ideas on what we should do?  The "no reboot necessary" was always something that I loved about Mac, eventhough we have to pay a little more, at least we never had to reboot!!!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

It could be many things, hardware failure or software issues.

You need to describe the freezes a little better. Is it a kernel panic…

Check the images in that tech note.

There may be logs that can indicate what crashed. They will be inside /Applications/Utilities/Console ins the log list look inside ~/Library/Logs and /Library/Logs under the CrashReporter sections Find the newest one.

It helps if you can note what application is freezing or manage to reproduce.

It may be simplest to show what is installed to see if the software could be part of the issue.

    EtreCheck will show that…

Post the report here for feedback.

Otherwise boot into safe mode (hold shift after the chime until the spinning 'cog' appears). Ensure the login window says 'safe mode'.

It will disable all third party extensions & startup items. If the Mac is better in safe mode it is time to get a system report and look at the third party software.

Be aware that some features will be disabled like wifi on some models, graphics drivers will be in a reduced mode - this is normal in safe mode.

Reboot to go back to normal.
