Im trying to down-grade from Lion to Snow Leopard. When starting my computer holding down 'option' I click on the install Snow Leopard DVD. It begins to load, the apple logo appears but nothing happens... My computer had Snow Leopard to begin with. I need to down grade because my software(ProTools, Logic, Reason) wont work unless I buy the upgrades, $$$.
Why is the disc not working? Is there anything else I can do?

The Snow Leopard installer is not able to install over a newer version of OS X
In ordder to install you need to erase the disk first

Forgot to add, the install disc works when Im logged on.
How do I erase the disk first? All instructions online told me to do it this way. It says to click on the install DVD, select utilities, then erase, then install.

Yeah but if you read my question you would understand that the install DVD is not loading which means I cant follow these instructions. Is there any other way to wipe my drive before inserting the install DVD?
Exactly which model of Mac are you attempting to upgrade here?
Its a mid 2010 macbook pro. 2.4 GHz i5, 4GB
The Snow Leopard install DVD is probably too old for that Mac
It requires a very late version of Snow Leopard instead of the 10.6.3 that is on the DVd
