Q: Has anyone managed to get Windows 8 installed using Bootcamp?

Has anyone managed to get Windows 8 installed using Bootcamp 5 with a ISO image and a USB flash drive, specifically on the Late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina model (MBP 11,3)? I get the following error during the Windows 8 installation “Windows could not upgrade the computer’s boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed.” The Genius Bar was unable to resolve the problem after like 2 hours; so has anyone figured out a work around to get this working. If so I would be grateful if you could let me know how to. Thanks.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9), BootCamp 5

    Hi Jack,

Due to my work I had to have a Windows particion. Not happy but did it. I bought 9.1 Pro, could not get it installed trying 20 times with different methods. Finally went to Best Buy where I bought the Windows. One of the guys at the Geek Squad who I described my woes to told me for $39.95 I could buy a very nice USB CD/DVD drive. So I did, It's the LG Slim drive - super light and small.

I was able to install right away, although the documentation is sketchy for me as I have Mavericks. I have a new MB Air 13", custom build.

Now my only issue is Windows does not connect to my wireless network. Can't find a fix for that yet.

    Hope this helps-

Thanks for your suggestion. So to be clear, you are suggesting that it is the use of the ISO file on the USB stick that is causing the problem specifically on the MBP 11,3. So I’m wondering if I burn the ISO onto a DVD and use an Apple Super drive instead of the USB stick, it might work. Can anyone confirm this course of action works on the MBP11,3?
